Magnetic letters are very versatile and a great way for your child to touch and feel a 3D letter. This helps your child imprint the letter into their memory as it gives them a multi-dimensional feel of the letter. This is great for visual memory and to develop letter recognition.
Little M enjoys puzzles and I used her alphabet puzzle together with the magnetic letters to get her to match the magnetic letter to the letters on the puzzle. Matching is the stepping stone to naming and when this activity was done Little M was starting to learn the names of the letters.
This activity also gave me an opportunity to show her that each letter has an upper case and lower case. We used the words ‘mummy’ letters and ‘baby’ letters to describe and distinguish between upper and lower case letters.
